How do I reduce the amount of junk email I receive?
At times, a few of our customers have been hit hard by SPAM. A lot of them do not know how use the Junk Mail filter in Outlook to properly manage the filter and manually cut down on the amount of SPAM they receive.
- Ask the client to click on “Tools” at the top of the Outlook client, and then choose “Options”.
- Have the client choose “Junk E-mail…”, which is found in the “Email” section of the “Preferences” tab.
- In the “Options” tab you can set the filtering level for the client.
- No Protection – Filter is off.
- Low – This setting is for people that do not experience a lot of SPAM and only want to filter obvious Junk Mail.
- High – This setting is for people who experience large amounts of SPAM. The client should be warned that “good” mail can potentially get caught by this filter and they should check every once in a while to make sure it isn’t.
- Safe Lists Only – Clients will only receive email from a Safe Sender’s List. All other email will be filtered and treated as Junk Mail.
- Offer the client online training that involves Junk Mail. http://office.microsoft.com/training/training.aspx?AssetID=RC011155411033&pid=CH063564711033
